There are three main characteristics for all surfing boards lightness, shapes and fins.
A lighter board will generally be quicker to respond underfoot, faster to trim, easier to maneuver, etc. The question is, and always has been, how to keep them strong? The old strength to weight issue rears its ugly head.
Virtually every major design concept you can imagine or have seen is already being honed, refined or extended to bold degrees, or subtly blended back into shapes this winter. Lots of loving attention is once again paid to rocker and vee amounts. If put into the proper perspective or context, everything seems to work – everything. I am talking channel bottoms, multiwingers, concaves, slots, asymmetrics and on, with more positive performance results, even in bigger conditions.

i need to know what the best surf board fo me is. i surfed like 5 times last summer and fell in love. and this summer i saved up enough to buy one. im still a beginer. hellp!
you can try a soft top board or a fish. a fish is like a longboard put to the size of a shortboard.
it has good paddleing its wide and thick. so it floats good and it is easy stand up. also its really loose turnig once you start to ride
